T.C.I 's Fabric Expansion Joints are non-metallic custom-built and designed to provide stress relief by absorbing movements caused by temperature changes, vibration and ducting misalignments. Our products are made of wide variety of flexible belt materials, single layer and composite belts in accordance with each specific

Fabric expansion joints have distinct advantages as they can accommodate relatively large movements and even some misalignment of flanges. They are also lightweight, easy to install and with the addition of internal insulation bolsters have good acoustic properties. Fabric expansion joints can be supplied fully assembled and fitted to support steelwork ready for insertion into ductwork. For retrofit applications, we can supply as factory joined or open for on-site joining where access is limited

T.C.I fabric expansion joints are in use in Power Plants, Gas Turbine installations, Offshore installations, Cement works, the Chemical Industry and many others.T.C.I fabric expansion joints are available in virtually any size and shape, from a range of proven standard constructions or designed specifically for your application.
The combined temperature, pressure and media are all decisive factors in the selection of fabric expansion joints. We offer 28 standard styles, covering every medium from clean air to highly aggressive flue gases. The materials used for the individual layers of T.C.I multi-layer expansion joints and the number of layers vary according to the type of expansion joint and the operational conditions.
The temperature capabilities range from -50º C to +1000º C and the pressure range from -50kPa to +50kPa. T.C.I fabric expansion joints are also available as units including steel work and ready for installation.
All materials undergo intensive in-house testing before being released for production, the properties are verified by independent testing authorities Certificates

General Composition of T.C.I Fabric Expansion Joints

Layers
- For mechanical protection, the internal layer of Standard Fabric Expansion Joints is either glass fabric or wire mesh.
- Where medium temperatures are above 300°C,T.C.I Fabric Expansion Joints are de-signed with one or more layers of insulation material for thermal protection.
- If the medium conveyed is aggressive, a gastight membrane serves as a chemical barrier.
- The outer layer primarily functions as a protection against ambient and mechanical influences, and as a pressure reinforcement.
-
Flange reinforcement for mechanical and thermal protection of the fabric expansion joint in the flange area.
The materials used for the above mentioned layers, vary according to the individual type of expansion joint and the operational conditions.

Functions
Fabric expansion joints are used for absorbing movements between joining connections in gas conveying ducts and pipe-lines. The movements can be caused by thermal expansion of the ducting system, wind conditions or vibrations from other system components or machines. In addition, fabric expansion joints can serve as seals and compensate for installation misalignments.
Advantages
The implementation of fabric expansion joints provides a number of advantages, which are technically and economically important:
- Extremely flexible Absorbing large movements
- Absorbing different movements simultaneously
- Only requiring a limited building length
- Lightweight
- Easy to handle, store, install, repair, replace
- Not transmitting noise or vibrations
- Reducing the necessary strength of fix-points and supports
- Not corroding
- Dimensionally stable
- Cost effective
