Wire mesh mist eliminators (mesh pads) typically comprise a pad of knitted wire (mesh) supported on both sides by a framework (weld mesh or grid).
They function as mist eliminators by the action of impingement of the liquid droplets onto the wire surface, subsequently allowing the droplets to coalesce and disengage from the wire surface, under the effects of gravity.
Mesh pads can be utilised in any configuration in horizontal and vertical separators, and when correctly designed, dependant on design parameters, offer high collection efficiency, low installed cost and a low pressure-drop.
Standard designs of mesh pads are 100mm (4"), 150 mm (6") or 200 mm (8") thick, with the mesh manufactured to densities typically between 80 and 200 Kg/m3. The grids on either side of the mesh are typically 25 mm (1") each in depth.
Zeta-pdm Ltd and our alliance partners, take a more detailed approach to the design of such equipment and as such we now offer a wide variety of materials and “layered” designs combining the best attributes of two or more mesh structures thus allowing a large increase in efficiency and throughput for a given size.
